On a crisp beautiful morning on the 22nd November we put our wellies and waterproofs on and went on a big adventure!! To a new wood with a new bus searching for creepy crawlies of all shapes and sizes. Armed with tubs, magnifying lenses and identification keys we arrived at East Ruston Poor’s Allotment. Whilst some of us went hunting for sticks of all sizes for our giant insect sculpture, the rest of us helped to set up base camp…though we did get side tracked playing some tarp games.
We had to work as a team to keep the ball bouncing on the tarp or rolling around the rim without falling off. Not as easy as you think!! But before we could start insect hunting we played Creeping Comanche’s. One of us had to go into the middle of circle blindfolded to protect all the tools we needed for our bug hunt. The rest of us had to creep up quietly to take the tools without being noticed…ohhh Mrs Ashworth, you really didn’t hear us creep up on you, did you??
Reading ‘Stanley Stick’ got us in the right mood for bug hunting. Look what we found!!
We finished up the morning making a GIANT WOODLOUSE out of sticks. Check out the images.
